Instruments
of Light.

Talacha is an architectural studio based in Mexico City and New York. We believe architecture is not just about building walls, but about capturing light and framing life.

The Architect

Erik Martínez brings a rare duality to the Mexico City architectural scene. With nearly two years of experience leading skyscraper projects in New York City (SHoP Architects) and high-tech fabrication research in Germany (Stuttgart), he possesses a rigor often absent in local boutique firms.

Before founding Talacha, Erik was a Senior Associate at SHoP Architects, where he played a key role in the Hudson's Site Tower in Detroit—a complex, mixed-use development that demanded absolute precision. He also worked with TEN Arquitectos (Enrique Norten) on landmark projects like 300 Ashland in Brooklyn.

He returned to Mexico with a specific mission: to apply this international standard of project management and technical execution to the intimacy of residential design.

Philosophy

Our name, Talacha, comes from the Mexican slang for "hard work" or "mechanics." It reflects our belief that beauty is the result of rigorous effort, not just inspiration. We are obsessed with materials—white clay brick from Puebla, volcanic stone from Pedregal—and how they age.
